This is a hands-on project of Taiwan culture. The project is a reply to the “

I remembered a boy told me with smile that he had failed for seven times in the process of making Hakka sachet. I replied him "That’s all right! Those tries you had done were the necessary steps to success. Just do your best!" I think it’s the core spirit of being a maker.

Xiang-boa, called sachet in English, is a small bag which is a handmade craft. The handmade sachet contains fragrant medicinal herbs inside and its shape looks like a "rice dumpling". Chinese people make it for children to wear on a traditional day, Dragon Boat Festival, to keep the evils away and prevent from illness.

All the children in my school are Hakkas. The Hakkas are chiefly from the Hakka-speaking provincial areas on Mainland China. As the Dragon Boat Festival is approaching near, we shared with the children how to make a sachet with Hakka fabric which is filled with flower pattern.

Finally, what do we do with the sachet? You could carry it with you, put it in your bag, hang it in your car, or simply use it as a decoration or a key chain. The nice smell of it will sure bring you a sweet day.(105-05-23,大坪國小)
